How To Wear: Radiant Orchid // Pantone Color of the Year
Each year, Pantone selects a color of the year. Do you remember tangerine tango in 2012 or emerald in 2013? Well, move aside, it's time to let "radiant orchid" take center stage as the color of 2014! I for one, LOVE the color... it reminds me of my first apartment in NYC when I painted thin stripes, yes - S T R I P E S, in shades of radiant orchid on my walls (looked great but even harder than it sounds... I never actually finished and do not recommended). My next apartment, I took a more realistic approach and painted one accent wall, behind the fireplace, what is now the color of the year, never mind you that this was 8 years ago. What can I say... I'm ahead of my time.
But alas, the color has returned to my life. While I have outgrown the color on my walls, plus not sure my love would approve, I can still incorporate it into my fashion.
Now I know this color is bold and for some may be hard to mix and match, but that's what I'm here for. I love the color paired with cognac and topped with navy, creating a sophisticated palette. Taking two basic colors that you probably have in your current wardrobe, you can mix in radiant orchid and create a fresh new look for the new year.
