We all know Target is a go-to for so many things, but especially for beauty products. I, for one, have been shopping at Target, always looking for new products to try, for as long as I can remember. While I have my tried + true beauty products that I love to go back to, I equally love discovering + trying new products–some of which end up being added to my daily routine.

Target has made trying new products effortless with the introduction of monthly curated boxes that feature their favorite beauty products. When Target approached me to try out their latest beauty box + share a simple hair tutorial using the products, I jumped at the chance. I mean, what beauty lover would turn down the opportunity to test a few awesome products + talk about them?

When my beauty box arrived, I was surprised to see so many amazing items. The September Beauty Box is focused on hair products that are moisturizing + nourishing, which I really enjoyed as my hair texture has changed with my pregnancy. There’s also a great teeth whitening product + Aquaphor (which I’m already a big fan of) included as well.

September Beauty Box Contents:

  1. Jane Carter Revitalizing Leave-In Conditioner
  2. Curls Crème Brulee Whipped Curl Cream
  3. Dove Quench Absolute Crème Serum (Full Size)

They say when you’re pregnant that your hair texture can change. For many women, including myself, their hair becomes thicker. I’ve always had curly/wavy hair, but my hair has always been very thin. Somewhere around month six, my hair started getting noticeable thicker + also even more curly than it’s ever been. Luckily, I can still rock a wash + go hairstyle, with the help of three products from the September Target Beauty Box.

Wash + Go “How-to” for Curly/Wavy Hair:

Start with your favorite shampoo + conditioner. I recommend using something that will add extra moisture to your hair. I share my favorite in this “Dear Hair…” letter that I wrote last year.

Sage Tip: Dry your hair using a soft cotton t-shirt, which will keep your curls together, while also enhancing their natural shape + keeping frizz away.

Starting with the Jane Carter Solution, Leave-In Conditioner–using your fingers to “comb” through your hair, never a brush, which can easily break curls. The best thing about this product is that not only is it detangling but it also protects your hair from the sun + heat styling. Looks like I’ll be adding this to my daily routine.

Next up, I used about a dime size each of Dove Quench Absolute Supreme Creme Serum + Curls Creme Brûlée, Whipped Curl Cream (which smells AMAZING, btw).

You want to make sure you add each product evenly to your hair. I’ve found the best way to do this, is in a simple four-step process.

  1. Rub together in your hands + run through your hair, like shampoo.
  2. Run hands through hair an additional time, making sure to cover all the way to the ends.
  3. Make sure you get underneath.
  4. Scrunch your hair to encourage the curl.

Step four is the most important for me because otherwise the curl will fall out of my hair + dry more wavy.

Next up, I typically wash my hair at night, so in order to keep the curl while I sleep + prevent frizz, I pull my hair into a messy, but tight bun, letting it air dry for at least 30min prior.

The following morning, I pull my hair out of the bun, toss it a few times with my fingers + I’m all set. I love the shape that is created with my long bangs, by pulling my hair into the bun, so even if I wash my hair in the morning, I typically still do this step, letting it continue to air dry as I enjoy my morning tea, eat breakfast, do my makeup + get dressed.

With the help of these three (new to me) products, that I discovered in the September Target Beauty Box, I’m able to easily style my newly thicker + curlier hair in a natural way. With my little one set to arrive this month, I’m pretty sure this will become a go-to style for me, mainly because it’s so darn easy!
