Valentine's Day Style Inspiration

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I searched through the Casa de Fallon archives and pulled together some of my favorite valentine-inspired looks for you and also included links to similar items so you can recreate the look.  Hopefully these bits of inspiration will inspire you, for your next date night or night out with the girls.  I for one, plan to keep my look festive all month long.

Blush, Black and White

Do people really still prescribe to the "you can't wear white after labor day rule"?  I know I sure don't.  I love white jeans, all year long and while I don't were them often since having a toddler around, I think white jeans are a great option for a date with your valentine if you live in a colder climate, especially when paired with blush and black.  You can pile on the layers, like scares, jackets and coats and still look chic, when wear a well fitting pair of white jeans. Hot Pink and Black

Hot pink and black are one of my favorite combos for winter and perfect for Valentine's Day. I was pregnant with Jayden in these pictures, still in my first trimester.  I ended up wearing this for Valentine's Day (original post here), which is when my now husband proposed to me at the restaurant where we had our first date.  So not only is this one of my favorite combos, but these photos and outfit bring back some wonderful memories.

Throw a Chambray on it...

Chambray is my secret weapon. A well fitting chambray shirt can really take you far–it's a great layering piece, season after season and looks fabulous paired with just about anything.  J Crew makes my favorite basic chambray shirts.  If you're planing a casual Valentine's Day dinner or maybe a mid day lunch, this outfit is perfect.  I was about seven months pregnant with Jayden in these photos (original post here), but none of what I am wearing is maternity, so you could totally pull off this look, pregnant or not. While the mid-layer lip print crop top is not necessary, it adds a fun playful touch and a pop of festive color to this look.  Depending on your style you can add something similar or just keep it simple with a black dress and throw a chambray on it.

Lavender and a Plain White Tee

You can seriously wear a white t-shirt for just about any occasion, depending on how you style it.  When paired with a denim jacket and a full skirt, this look is perfect for a fun Valentine's Day date.  I love lavender, denim and white paired together for winter and it's a great way to get ready to ease into spring. The blue suede pumps just further pump up the playfulness of this look, which you can easily do as well or keep it simple with a nude pump or neutral color bootie.   (original post here... Fun and Playful

Going the fun and playful route for Valentine's day, is always a good choice.  What I love about this look, is how colorful it is, but you can also do fun and playful in a black and white dotted dress as well.  Not only is this look a great mix of color, but the fit is super comfortable and forgiving (original post here) and don't forget the playful tights too ;)

Blush Pink and Burgundy

Not that you need an excuse to go all out sexy, but if you did... Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse! When I choose to go sexy, I typically opt for a body con dress (original post here).  For Valentine's Day, because I'm a girl who loves a good theme, I like to choose a color palette that was girly but also a little un expected–blush pink and burgundy with a dash of black fits the bill perfectly.  Take this color combo and a body con look (skirt or dress) and you're sure to turn heads.

Red and Marsala

Another unexpected color combo for Valentine's Day is red and marsala or burgundy.. anything in that family really. This color combo can be chic or playful, but I kept it super chic (original post here) with the pencil skirt, tailored coat and structured handbag–while the knee high boots and print keep it fashion forward.

So tell me, what are your plans for Valentine's Day?  I'm not sure we will make it out (we still need to work on finding a babysitter, in general) but I would love to live vicariously through you...
