Nicaragua, Central America // April 2013

DSC_0339 I travel (domestically) a lot for work, so you would think the last thing I would want to do is hop on a plane to relax... however its the exact opposite.  I love traveling!  A devoted Delta girl, I must admit I'm a little extremely addicted to sky miles.   Four weeks ago, I booked an impromptu trip to Nicaragua for my boyfriend headed to Aqua Wellness Resort.  Great reviews on Jetsetter, a deal on Sniqueaway, and confirmation from a friend of a friend that it was a great time to go.  What did we have to lose?

Well.. the resort was beautiful!  We stayed in a tree house, about 1/2 mile from the ocean, where monkeys swung from tree to tree right outside our window.  It was absolutely the adventure I was looking for!  However I do have to say while the resort was lovely, the service was terrible!  But what it lacked in service, it made up for it in the weather and scenery.

Day one, we started off with a sunset cruise... an adventure that I will never forget.  The water was choppy and the boat was small... but the fact that I was experiencing it all with my love, couldn't have made me happier.

The nice thing about Aqua was the peaceful state of mind that you could not escape.  We enjoyed yoga one morning on a sun deck built on the side of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and full body massages with incredible views.

Adventure, a close 2nd to relaxation, was still high on our list, so I was trilled to try zip lining for the first time. I even was brave enough to attempt the "Superman" trick, which is hands free and awesome!

Checking out the surrounding towns was pretty exciting as well...

All in all, it was totally worth the miles I spent on the flight... (not so much worth the bill we received after for all of our excursions and the taxes they don't tell you about) but I would have totally done it again if given the chance.

Nicaragua is a beautiful country filled with lakes, volcanos, and monkeys that "howl" so loud at night you would think the smoke  monster from LOST was after you. Not sure what Im talking about... just know, until we figured out what the noise was, we were a tad freaked.Slide4

Until the next adventure.... #liveloveexplore
