Mixing Prints | Leopard, Houndstooth + Floral

Tracey Reese Skirt, Equipment Silk Top, mimi&mo, sage+sparkle If you have been following my blog for a while now, then you know that mixing prints/textures is my thing.  The more interesting details a look has, the more I love it.  While I have a great appreciation for the simply things in life, when it come to fashion, I tend to lean towards the complex. Case in point, with todays outfit.

When it comes to mixing prints, it's all about having some common thread amongst the patterns you're mixing.  My rule of thumb is, each print must connect to the next in some way.  With this outfit the top connects to the floral print in the skirt, while the leopard print in the skirt connects back to the shoes.  I also like to balance out larger prints with smaller prints as done here with the small houndstooth, which ends up looking like a solid color compared to the larger print of the skirt.

While I know that houndstooth, leopard, and floral print may be too much for many of you, I hope that I'm at least able to inspire you to try a new combination, and mix it up a little.
