Le Dîner en Blanc | New York, NY

Last month, my love and I had the privilege of attending Le Dîner en Blanc in NYC.  I say privilege, because not everybody gets the opportunity to attend.  An estimated 4,800 people attended the event, but over 30,000 people were on the wait list! You have to either be a member, meaning you attending the year before, or be invited by a member - which still doesn't guarantee you entry, but just gives you the chance to purchase a ticket.

Luckily my BFF, Yaz sponsored me and I was able to purchase a ticket.  Now getting my ticket was only the beginning.

Next on the agenda was getting all of the supplies for this spontaneous, magical, all white, picnic.  You see, the location isn't even received until moments before the festivities begin - but more on that later.

As far as supplies, we needed to bring with us:

  • A table + two white chairs
  • A picnic basket filled with quality menu items and a china dinner service including proper stemware + flatware
  • Decorations: tablecloth, napkins, flowers, candles, etc.
  • Wine or Champagne

What I wore:

And... we needed to wear all white.  I opted for this BCBG Dress, rose gold accessories, and  white feathers in my hair.

You meet at a select location, ours was Time Square, throughout the city where you are assigned a table number.  From there you and your group take public transportation to the location (still unknown), carrying all of the above mentioned stuff - during rush hour!

Did we look crazy?  Yes

Was it all worth it? 100% YES

Getting to the location, was a little stressful but still so magical as we were instantly transported back in time and felt like you we were experience New York much like Jay Gatsby.

Once you arrive, you have to quickly set up your table and get ready for the signal to swing your napkin in the air above your head and let the festivities begin.

Moet was the sponsor of the event this year and my BFF, Yaz was selected to design their VIP tables.  I can't even begin to express how proud I am of her!

Check out this floral table runner she created, that went all the way to the ground - have you ever seen anything like it?!

And of course, no party is complete without a Photo Booth! Which I took advantage of more times than I care to share...
