Interior Style | Bedroom Makeover Inspiration
While my boyfriend and I have only lived together for a year now, we never fully finished decorating our bedroom. When I first set out to decorate the room, I wanted it to be bright and happy. We started by painting the walls a soft yellow with the intent to decorate the rest of the room in white and grey with dark wood accents. Shortly after we painted the wall, I changed my mind - that was a year ago and the walls are still yellow. Disclosure: Compensation was provided by Ace Hardware via Mode Media. Recently, Ace Hardware approached me and asked that I checked out their exclusive Clark+Kensington paint colors and share with my readers a fantasy room makeover along with my inspiration. Naturally I said yes, knowing that this would turn into more than just a fantasy. Little did they know, this was exactly the push I needed to finally get my butt in gear and
decorate re-decorate our bedroom.
My inspiration for our bedroom makeover comes from my love for romantic foggy mornings. Growing up outside of San Francisco, fog is my comfort zone. In my eyes, there is nothing more comforting than a dense foggy morning, giving you the feeling of being wrapped up in a cozy blanket enjoying a warm cup of tea. Maybe I was meant to live in London, who knows... I digress. What I do know, is that I LOVE fog!
Once I had my inspiration in place, the next step was choosing the color. After
debuting discussing colors with my boyfriend, we decided on a grey color for the walls. I would like to go super dark but he doesn't want it to feel too much like a cave so we're going to keep it as light as possible while still creating a cozy foggy morning feel.
We haven't locked in on a color yet... but hopefully in the next week or two we will have decided on one that we both love. Based on our schedules, early August will be the best time to start this little project.
We did however narrow it down to an amazing assortment of grey - my favorite being "Eye of the Storm", "Fog Rolls In" or "Saint Helena" (which just so happens to be the name of a town close to where I grew up - go figure.) The great thing about Clark + Kensington is that they have pint size samples available for just $4.99, so when the time comes we can try out the color with out fully committing.
