Hatch Baby Smart Changing Pad
The first few weeks of Jayden's life, were pretty stressful. Beyond the obvious reasons associated with being a new mom, Jayden wasn't gaining weight, which made my stress levels skyrocket. As a new mom, all you want to know is that your child is healthy + growing accordingly. While we were beyond lucky to be blessed with a healthy (BIG... like 9lbs 10oz big) baby boy, it wasn't until week 8 that Jayden started gaining weight sufficiently.
From the beginning we had may hurdles to overcome on our road to a happy breastfeeding journey (which luckily we are a on now), but one of the huddles was not knowing how much milk Jayden was getting during each feeding. For the first 8 weeks, we had to go to the doctor's office for weekly weigh-ins–a day which I started to dread simply because I had no idea what to expect.
When you're breastfeeding, it's impossible to truly know how much milk your baby is taking in. At least that's what I thought before I had my first appointment with my lactation consultation. During my first appointment I learned you could weigh your baby before breastfeeding, then weight them again after to get a good estimate of how much milk your baby took in. This alone made the appointment worth it to me. But imagine if you could have this same piece of mind daily, without have to schedule an appointment with a lactation consultant or visit your doctor. Well, you can with the Hatch Baby Smart Changing Pad, plus track a bunch of other things too.
When Hatch Baby reached out to me to try their Smart Changing Pad, I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first, but willing to give it a try. Before Hatch Baby, I had tried a handful of other tracking devices + had also purchased a baby scale. Plus, since week eight, Jayden has been gaining weight right on target, which means I have been worrying a lot less.
Then our Hatch Baby Smart Changing Pad arrived, I unpacked the box, downloaded the free app (which you can use with out the Changing Pad, btw) + started recording Jayden's stats. Instantly, I was hooked.
Once you enter in your baby's data (Name, Birth Day, Weight, Heights) you can then start tracking feedings, diapers + weight from the changing pad, as well as the app, in addition to tracking sleep on the app alone. It's kinda like a Fitbit for babies.
Since we're in a good place, from a weight stand point, the diaper + sleep tracking has been my favorite. But I also love the comfort of knowing that I can get an accurate weight on Jayden at any point throughout the day + if I'm every having any doubt (which still happens often) about how much he may be eating these days, I quickly check for myself.
It's also really great to see exactly how much Jayden is sleeping, eating + his diaper output all in one spot, as his patterns have + will continue, to change as he grows.
One of the things I love the most about the Smart Changing Pad, is the design. Super lightweight, easy on the eyes + modern. I placed mine onto of our ikea dresser to create a custom smart changing station, in Jayden's nursery.
