Family Halloween Costume – Disney's Pinocchio

Family Halloween costumes are my favorite! I wasn't always super into Halloween.  I mean, dressing up is fun and all, but I was okay if I missed the holiday a year or two .  But now that I have a little one of my own, Halloween is quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays!  Dressing up as a family is just so darn cute... not to mention so much fun too!

Last year, Jayden was only five weeks old and I thought of our costume days before our local Halloween Parade (thank God, for Amazon Prime). Last year, we went as "Where's Waldo", I mean have you ever seen a cuter Waldo?!?

This year, I wanted to do something a little more creative, but it was also coming down to the wire and I must mention, I had to be DIY... I'm just not a fan of store bought costumes.  I didn't decide on this years costume until last Friday! It's just so hard to narrow down, when there are some many options out there.  Since Jayden recently turned one, I thought going as the original "real boy" was perfect... Pinocchio! Then of course, Joe would be Gepetto and the natural choose for me would've been the fairy I guess, but I couldn't pass at the opportunity to be Jiminy Cricket for a day (if only I could whistle), I mean a mommy is just the same as a conscience, right?.

I realized after the fact (not until I was editing through the photos we had taken) that I had forgot to wear my white gloves, which completed the costume.  I can't pretend I'm not a little upset about it, but I think my costume still worked out pretty well and I got Jayden to wear his hat for the photos, which was a HUGE success!

Costume Details:

Jiminy Cricket: Clothing wise, everything I'm wearing, is items I already had in my wardrobe. I bought the hat, umbrella and gloves (not pictured) from Amazon and the "official conscience" pin is vintage from Disneyland circa 1997, found on eBay.

Gepetto: The shirt, pants, shoes and glasses, Joe already had in his closet.  I found the vest from Ralph Lauren on Amazon and the wig and mustache at Party City.

Pinocchio: We started with our favorite Freshly Picked Moccasins, but the rest of Jayden's costume, I had to pull together.  I found the onesie and suspenders on Amazon and his shorts are from Finn + Emma.  His hat was from etsy, which arrived too big, so I had to sew it to make it smaller and also added elastic to help keep it on (which we wouldn't wear).  The bowtie was from Party City, I removed the elastic and sewed it to his collar and his vest I made with felt and ribbon.

So now it's you're turn... tell me–what are YOU dressing up as for Halloween?  Family costume?  Sitting this one out?  Do tell.... Jayden and I will be wearing these costumes again tomorrow as we head off to the Little Peoples HALLOWEEN Party.

Happy Halloween!
