Fall Fashion // Olive Green Mohair Dress + BDay Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  My birthday weekend is officially over.  What started as a celebration the week prior in California with my family, continued in Atlanta with a few girls from work at Two Urban Licks, and then into the actually day, jet setting back to NYC to have a wonderful dinner with my love at Catch in the Meat Packing District.  Friday night we had Mexican at Casa Enrique, which is always a treat since I LOVE Mexican but it's not my loves favorite.  Followed by a weekend of shopping and brunch... Saturday was in Greenpoint at Brooklyn Label with my love and Sunday was at The Stanton Social with my ladies.  In all, I ate, I shopped, and ate some more.  Excellent birthday weekend if I do say so myself.

But the festivities don't stop there.  Wednesday evening my love and I are headed off to Paris, followed by London (both my first time).  The count down is real... in three days I will be running around Paris like Audrey Hepburn in "Funny Face", singing "Bonjour, Paris".  Pinch me, I must be dreaming... No seriously, I can't believe it is finally happening.  I know every girls says this, but I have dreamed of going to Paris my entire life and now it is happening.  Wow!  Life is wonderful.  And I couldn't think of someone better to go with.

Now on to todays fashion inspiration... this dress is one of my favorites, but I have to admit, I could never really figure out how to wear it, and in result its been hanging in my closet for over two years and I maybe wore it once.  The material is mohair so its pretty warm, trimmed in leather, and sleeveless, but that's the thing about it... its warm because of the material, but then it's sleeveless.  Plus with the shape and length, I don't love it with tights, as it starts to look matronly.  But when I saw it hanging in my closet this weekend, I knew I had to figure out how to style this little lady.  So I played with layers, finally deciding on my off white silk button up.  When paired with a pastel pink coat, statement necklace, and suede pumps, the look is put together, chic, and a bit school girl, which is so in right now.

What do you think? Do you like the combo? Would you wear a dress layered over a button up?  It sure does expand your current wardrobe and breathes new life in to items that may have been in your closet for years.
