Day Out With Thomas – Delaware River Railroad
Phillipsburg, NJ. 1.5hrs from NYC (depending on traffic) *experience was gifted to us by Delaware River Railroad, but as always all opinions are our own.
How cool would you be if you could introduce your kiddos to Thomas the Train IRL (in real life)? My guess, is you’d score some major points, that is if you’re a toddler mom.
Well guess what, you CAN!
Day Out With Thomas enables you to do just that–its a fun filled day for the whole family, where you can take a photo with Thomas the Train, board a vintage stile steam locomotive pulled by Thomas (and in some locations they have Percy too), while enjoying some pretty cool Thomas tunes, like a rap version of the theme song that is pretty awesome. Once you return back to the “United Kingdom of Sodor” you can do a meet & greet with Sir Topham Hatt, take a seat and cool off while you are entertained by a hilarious Ventriloquist Scott Wagstaff & His Zany Animals (highly recommend this) or the amazing Juggler Jeff Peden and make sure you check out the Grand Master Band Wagon too.
As if that wasn’t enough there is also an Imagination Station where you can enjoy coloring, stamps, temporary tattoos, Mega Blocks, Thomas Videos, Story Telling and Spin Art.
…but don’t forget to pick up you “Passport to Adventure” first so you can get it stamped at each station and receive a free gift when you leave.
Day Out With Thomas happens two weekends each summer at the Delaware River Railroad and is so easy to get to from the NJ/NY/PA area. We went to the second weekend and while it was extremely hot that day, we had a blast!
Come prepared with extra water and a mini fan to stay cool. The nice thing about the location though, is there is lots of shade, so good for tiny babies too. There is stroller parking, but if you can use a carries for those not walking, I would recommend that.
As far as parking, there is a gas station you will see that offers parking in their back lot for $15. A bit pricey for the area, but I would say its worth it, as you just park and walk down two stairs and you’re there! The is meter parking on the street, however park at your own risk, since there are signs that say “no parking for Day Out With Thomas”.

Exciting news for those in the NJ/NY/PA area…
